An inspection on a Monaghan based disability centre has described the care provided as 'person centred'
HIQA inspectors visited Fernview House in Monaghan in April of this year Fernview House comprises of two detached houses in Co. Monaghan and at the time of the inspection, there were 13 residents present.
One house provided care and support to six residents and the other to seven.
Over the course of the inspection staff were observed to support the residents in a person centred and caring manner.
Additionally, residents appeared to look comfortable and relaxed in their home and happy in the company and presence of staff. Residents were being supported with educational activities such as taking pottery classes and engaging in arts and crafts such as knitting. Written feedback on the quality and safety of care from relatives of the residents was also positive and complimentary, as was feedback from the
residents. Inspectors observed that some minor details with regard to risk management needed improvement but did remark that the house was well-maintained, homely and welcoming. The centre was found to be compliant or substantially compliant in all areas of inspection.
