A Monaghan-designed ventilator splitter could soon be used in the fight against Covid-19 in India.
The design drawings have been sent out, to have the Combi-Ventilate manufactured over there.
Last April, Monaghan forklift manufacturing company Combilift unveiled a "ventilator splitter" designed to treat multiple people in ICU at one time.
It was developed over a five week period to overcome risks arising from a shortage of ventilators, particularly in developing countries.
India is currently one of the countries worst affected by Covid-19, and has experienced over 300,000 infections every day for almost two weeks.
Ireland has donated two shipments of medical equipment in response to the emergency, including oxygen generators, concentrators and ventilators.
Combilift CEO Martin McVicar confirmed to Shannonside Northern Sound that in the past two weeks, his company has been approached by three organisations in India regarding the supply of the Combi-Ventilate.
He said the design drawings and bill of materials has been sent to one of the organisations to facilitate them manufacturing the not-for-profit product on-site in India.
