The upgrade of the Monaghan to Derry road has been delayed again.
Infrastructure Minister in the North Nichola Mallon has said she is committed to the process but there needs to be further public consultation.
The A5 upgrade has been long awaited and would see the road from the Monaghan border to Derry converted to dual carriageway.
The Irish Government has committed €500m to the project to improve transport links between Dublin and Derry.
A report from the Planning Appeals Commission released today and it recommends further consultation on flood risks and other issues.
Minister Mallon says she expects further public consultations will be held as part of the process.
