Monaghan farmer Padraic Greenan entered his award winning cow, Greenlea MG Rhapsody, in the Diageo Baileys Irish Champion Cow event at Virginia Show this week.
And the cow took a very respectable 5th place when the winners were announced yesterday evening.
Speaking to Northern Sound this afternoon, Padraic said the Virginia event was a "massive national event" that attracted dairy farmers from all over Ireland.
He added that Greenlea MG Rhapsody was a "work in progress".
Padraic said the hope is that one day she will claim the number one spot on the Baileys Champion Cow podium.
"There is massive work in preparing the cow for a show like this," he continued.
"You have to have her on the button on the day and it takes a lot of work.
"But it takes a lot of help too and I have a brother who took her up the road on Sunday evening just so that we could get her settled in for the Wednesday."
