Today, on World Peace Day, Monaghan County Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary at the Monaghan Peace campus. Back in 1974, Monaghan County Museum became the first professionally staffed local authority museum in Ireland. This summer, the museum completed its move to a state-of-the-art home at the brand-new €22m Peace Campus,
And now today, the people at Monaghan County Museum extend an open invitation to the public to join their birthday celebration event. Tommy Bowe, features in the museum's latest exhibition called "Bordering Realities" and he'll be at today's celebrations to cut the museum's birthday cake. The event atarts at 10am, with Tommy Bowe making an appearance from 2:30pm.
