Monaghan County Council has sent a letter of no confidence to EirGrid as a result of its approach to the North-South Interconnector.
Councillor Noel Keelan, who proposed the motion, added that he has no confidence in the company due to its warning that there could be blackouts this winter.
The Sinn Féin Councillor also proposed that the Local Authority issue a letter of no confidence in the Environment Minister, Eamon Ryan.
However, it was agreed to postpone this pending the release of a report into the Interconnector.
