Monaghan councillors have been reassured that the council has no intention of removing the existing pay parking machines in Monaghan Town.
Councillor David Maxwell raised the issue at today’s Monaghan MD meeting and said that some people had been voicing concerns about the plans.
The local authority has issued a tender for cashless pay parking system.
However, Donal McElwain, the Municipal District co-ordinator, said the existing machines will remain in place.
Several options are being considered for the cashless parking system and councillors were informed that the chosen system will “complement and not replace” the existing machines.
