Monaghan County Council is reminding people to not cycle in Rossmore Park.
It comes after a small number of complaints to the local authority about
individuals using bikes on the walking trails.
The Monaghan town park has increased in popularity in 2020, with visitors using the facility on a daily basis.
In a statement to Northern Sound News on the back of a small number of complaints about cyclists, Monaghan County Council says the park is
dedicated to pedestrians, and not suitable for cyclists because of the number of "people of all ages, including families, enjoying the relaxing
walks".
While it says cycling is currently not permitted, it's reminding people that a "family-friendly" cycle path through the park is expected to be open by
next summer.
Coillte meanwhile has said it had no plans to develop mountain bike trails in Cavan or Monaghan.
It currently provides access to eight dedicated off-road trails in forests across Ireland, with the closest located in Coolaney County Sligo.
