Monaghan County Council is at, or near, the top of the list nationally for several performance indicators.
That's according to the latest NOAC Performance Indicator Report.
The National Oversight and Audit Commission scrutinises the performance of local government against relevant performance indicators.
According to the latest report, covering 2020, Monaghan County Council is first place as regards lowest average re-letting times for vacant dwellings, at 11.5 weeks.
Colm Carthy remarked that the houses are at the "highest possible standard when the keys are handed over".
The county ranked also second place for the lowest levels of vacancies, with only 0.72% of Local Authority properties not tenanted at the end of 2022.
There was also an uptick in compliance for private drinking waters, increasing by around one percent to reach 99.3%.
Meanwhile, Monaghan ranked third nationwide when it came to energy savings achieved by the Local Authority in 2020.
However, there were significant increases in the percentage of the county that is deemed to be moderately or significantly polluted.
Significantly polluted areas rose from zero to four percent between 2019 and 2020, and moderately polluted areas rose from 12 to 26% over the same period.
Some of this increase was attributed to "staff turnover leading to differing interpretations of a subjective survey"
David Maxwell said the figures gives the council a "bench mark" and "something to aim for".
Cathaoirleach Aidan Campbell notes that the figures are good but the county could be doing better in some areas.]
