Monaghan County Council has been given approval to proceed with the procurement of design services for the N53 Ballynacarry Bridge.
This particular bridge has been a matter of concern for councils over a number of years with former councillor Jackie Crowe regularly seeking work done to reduce the danger posed by the bridge.
The roads department of the council has confirmed they are currently preparing a Project Appraisal Plan which will be submitted to the TII and
DTTAS for approval.
However no timescale could be offered for the works as they are pending approval from both bodies.
