Monaghan County Council could be facing a shortfall of around 4 million euro in its overall income this year due to Covid-19.
Director of Services for Finance, Housing and Culture John Murray, told the local authority's monthly meeting yesterday that the loss of income from the rates holiday, reduced rent costs for some families, and the free parking have all had a substantial impact.
He said that this may have a knock on effect for services, and there may be cutbacks.
However, John Murray did reassure members that they had overdrafts in place and would have enough money to get to the end of the year.
