Monaghan County Council is 'demanding' that a post box is installed in Annayalla.
Residents currently have to travel to Clontibret or Castleblayney to access a post box.
An Post responded to a recent letter from the council requesting one, stating that the projected mailing volume based on the current population in the area was not large enough to make it feasible.

Councillor Cathy Bennett said that this was unacceptable and that she was unwilling to await a review also mentioned by An Post in their response for the possible installation of the post box.
A motion was passed to issue a letter to demand the service in the area be sent to both An Post and Minister Eamon Ryan.
