Monaghan County Council has passed a motion acknowledging the work of the government, and of the incoming US President Joe Biden, in ensuring the Northern Ireland protocol is upheld in Brexit talks.
Councillor Seamus Coyle proposed the motion, which also calls on the Council to acknowledge the work of EU colleagues during Brexit negotiations.
Councillor Coyle says their work has preserved the EU customs union and avoided a hard border.
While progress has been made on how the north will be handled after the transition period ends, Micheal Martin has warned a no-deal Brexit is very much on the cards over the next two days.
