A Monaghan councillor has "welcomed" infrastructural developments which are expected to take place between Scotstown and Ballinode in the coming months.
A feasibility study to determine what is needed was also announced.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Cathy Bennett revealed that she has been calling for developments "for some time now" and that a walkway and cycle path between the two villages would be a "brilliant addition" and would also encourage more people to visit the area.
Councillor Bennett also described the current state of the road as "dangerous," especially for young children who are walking.
While the focus will be on the walkway and cycle path to begin with, Cllr Bennett is "hopeful" that more projects will be announced for areas like Sliabh Beagh, which she says are "crying out" for substantial funding:
