A Monaghan Councillor says energy price increases are more of a usage deterrent than carbon tax ever was.
Sinn Fein's Sean Conlon was speaking after his motion calling for the upcoming tax increase to be stalled received unanimous support.
A rise on the tax due on home heating oil and fuel is due at the start of next month.
The motion has now been forwarded to Finance Minister Pascal Donohoe for his consideration.
Speaking on The Wider View, Councillor Conlon said people can't afford any more price hikes.
