A Monaghan councillor has once more called for a review to be taken of the visitor experience at Dublin Airport.
Speaking at a recent Monaghan County Council meeting, Cllr Noel Keelan said he was "shocked but not surprised" at a response issued on behalf of Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, over council concerns in relation to the airport.
In a letter, a spokesperson on behalf of Minister Eamon Ryan "thanked" Monaghan County Council for its correspondence but claimed that the matter was instead "under the remit" of Minister of State, Hildegarde Naughton.
As a result, Cllr Keelan called for Monaghan County Council to issue a fresh appeal, directly to Deputy Naughton in the hope of addressing concerns which he claims are still "on going" at Dublin Airport.
Cllr Keelan said this is a "peak time" for tourism and people coming into the country, but warned that the current state of affairs at Dublin Airport will only cause "reputational damage."
He described the current visitor experience at Dublin Airport as "astonishing," with increasing numbers of people missing flights, losing baggage and a lack of personnel answering phones.
The motion was passed by the council, with the South Monaghan representative adding that it is something that "affects us all."
