A Monaghan councillor has raised health and safety concerns regarding exploratory works on the North-South Interconnector.
At a recent County Council meeting, Noel Keelan asked how EirGrid "plan to access private lands where no consent is given".
And while he acknowledged a "small number of landowners are working with EirGrid", he claimed that most are not.
Councillor Keelan further asked how EirGrid "can claim to have good relations with people here", when damage is being caused to lands and animals are being worried.
The Sinn Féin councillor added that machinery is being left unattended and hit out at a lack of warning signs.
He passed a motion calling on the council to contact EirGrid about these health and safety concerns.
