A Monaghan Councillor says people should consider using the CIS scheme to get local roads repaired.
CIS or Community Involvement Scheme works when residents identify modest works that could be carried out and are unlikely to be included in a local authority’s roads programme.
The scheme works off a public contribution from the community and departmental funding separate to other road allocations.
Monaghan Town Councillor Paudge Connolly said there have been success stories in the county of businesses and communities getting the benefits of CIS.
He accepted that in an ideal world there’d not be a need for any contribution, but explained why it could be a viable alternative for some people.
