A Monaghan councillor is calling on the Transport Minister, Eamon Ryan, to provide special funding to the Ballybay-Clones MD following heavy rainfall on Tuesday.
A number of roads in the Ballybay-Latton area have been damaged following the heavy rain, and Seamus Coyle says the costs involved in repairing the roads will be "significant".
A wall at the Ballybay Central National School was knocked down as a result of the weather, and Councillor Coyle says it's fortunate that no homes were flooded.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Seamus Coyle said it would be "very unfair" if the Ballybay-Clones MD had to use their budget to repair roads that have been damaged "due to a freak storm":
