Monaghan County Counillor, Cathy Bennett, has said "Ireland is a humane race of people" as she re-iterated her party's call for the Irish Government to report Israel to the International Criminal Court. The Sinn Féin local representative was speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show earlier. A panel of three commentators from across the Shannonside/Northern Sound region were discussing the ongoing attrocities in Paelstine. Cathy Bennett followed her party's line in calling for the Irish Government to report Israel's actions in Palestine to the International Criminal Court and expel their ambassador from this country.
An impassioned Cathy Bennett said she agrees the Hamas attack on Israel and their taking of Israeli hostages "should not have happened". She pointed to figures which state that while 1500 Israelis were killed following the Hamas attack on October, 7th, 11,000 Palestinians have died since. It was pointed out to the councillor that an ICC investigation into Israel's actions is currently underway. Councillor Bennett responded by saying the Irish people are a humane race and expect their government to do the right thing with the avenues open to it:
"I think any government on our island should be ensuring this is done," Councillor Bennett said, ""We, as Irish people are a very humane race. I think it's unbelievable that the government is not backing this motion. They say it's been done but they need to make sure it is done and do it again and make sure this is reported to the International Criminal Court."
