Planning permission has been granted to Monaghan company, Flamewood Ltd., to construct a new 38,000 sq. ft food production facility in Castleblayney. Flamewood, also known as McCaughey Foods, is a family-run business which supplies a range of high quality cooked meats to the food service markets and local retail outlets. Their product range includes; turkey, chicken, beef, lamb and pork mainly sold to the Republic of Ireland market.
Monaghan County Council has granted permission for Flamewood to construct a new state-of-the art production plant with a floor space of 38,356 sq metres on a 7 hectare site at Moraghy. The proposed development includes food prep areas, packing hall and cold storage. Some of the more notable plans in the granted application include offices and staff facilities over four floors including a canteen and roof garden; LPG/Biogas refuelling area; dedicated cycle access for staff; and the provision of a bus stop and lay-by on the south side of the R183 Monaghan Road.
