A Monaghan community has restored their church from a state of disrepair through donations and volunteering alone.
The All Saints Church in Doohamlet, built in 1857, had suffered extensive dampness resulting in mould which blackened the interior.
A renovation committee formed in 2019 and volunteers from the community have now restored the entire church both inside and out.
The development was completely funded through donations and local support with Parish Priest Fr Mc Donald being the first to make a personal donation of €20,000.
The church will open temporarily this weekend for Communion ceremonies with chair of the committee Gerard Duffy saying a bigger opening will take place when everything is completed:
