Monaghan comedian meets Pope Francis

'Father Ted' star and Carrickmacross native Ardal O'Hanlon was among 100 comedians to meet Pope Francis in Rome today.

Tommy Tiernan and Patrick Kielty were also in the Vatican and attended an audience with the Pontiff. Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock and Conan O'Brien travelled for the occasion too.

Pope Francis told the gathering they have the power to unite people.
