Monaghan County Council is set to supply an extra 144 social homes across the county by the end of the year.
It was confirmed at this week's council meeting that there are currently 126 homes added to the county's social housing stock during 2022 so far.
The 144 homes supplied will represent a 10% increase over the target set out under the housing for all government initiative.
By the end of the year the total number of social housing in the Farney County will be at 1700.
Monaghan County Council confirmed that there is 1000 people currently on the waiting list for housing in the county.
They also said they expect this number to rise by 30 to 40% due to the increase in the income threshold limit that was changed in recent weeks.
