Civil Defence Volunteers in Monaghan came in for high praise at a recently held meeting of Monaghan County Council. The service actively supports people right across the Northern Sound region including the transportation of Ukrainian refugees to new accommodation.
The local civil defence was assisted by Cavan and Monaghan primary care staff during adverse weather events. Ambulance duties at local GAA events and assisting blood transfusion services were also some of the duties that were covered by the local Civil Defence.
Local Councillor Noel Keelan complemented the volunteers and highlighted the "important" work they do for the community.
