Aughnamullen Parish Church is seeking planning permission for a new interactive memorial centre in memory of the late TD and Senator Billy Fox.
Earlier this year, the congregation of the Church launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for the development.
The works would also see several other renovations made to the Church.
The interactive memorial would be located to the northwestern side of the nave within the Church, which is a protected structure - the nave will continue to be used as the main place of worship in the Church.
The memorial will honour Billy Fox, the late TD and Senator who was the only member of the Oireachtas to have lost their life during the Troubles.
He is buried on the site, which is a cross-community graveyard.
The plans, which are promoted by Latton Social Services and Development, includes a proposed Tea-station structure to replace the existing boiler room to the north-western side of bell tower.
The works would also include the reconfiguration of an existing vestry to include a new toilet and new ramp access.
In addition to this, there is a proposal for a new staircase for entry to the choir balcony alongside the removal of the existing steps in the bell tower.
The Church is also seeking permission for the wholesale re-slating of the roof and the installation of new heating and electrical systems.
