Jim Hand is at the helm of Hand Footwear which has been at the heart of local communities across Monaghan Town and Carrickmacross for some time now.
After his business was forced to close due to lockdown restrictions, the Monaghan man decided to contact the Monaghan volunteer service, as opposed to sitting at home and doing nothing.
It was from there that his special journey with the Carrickmacross Meals on Wheels service began.
Despite his business reopening, Jim decided to carry-on with his volunteering duties due to the loneliness that many people are feeling across the locality.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the Monaghan businessman highlighted the importance of local volunteer work, adding that in the words of St Francis, it is only in giving that we receive.
