Two Monaghan-based social enterprises have been named Awardees of Rethink Ireland's €530,000 Social Enterprise Funds.
Carrickmacross Toy Library and the Open Food Network are among the 28 Awardees, who will benefit from the start-up fund which is aimed at developing social enterprises to improve the lives of local communities across Ireland.
The Carrickmacross Toy Library is a standalone facility, which promotes the diverse activities for children and tackling the problem of toy waste.
Managed and staffed entirely by volunteers, in addition to a toy lending service, the Toy Library offers ‘stay and play’ and themed pop-up play sessions.
With support from Rethink Ireland, the local Toy Library will continue to grow its membership over the next three years.
Elsewhere, the additional funding will also support 'The Open Food Network' based in Co Monaghan.
With operations across 20 countries, the Open Food Network is part of a worldwide movement to rebuild resilient local food systems in a sustainable, fair and transparent way.
