Monaghan native Donnchadh MacGabhann will officially launch his new novel The Long Shadow on February the 2nd next.
It's a dystopian novel that is set around the Covid-19 pandemic and focuses on how the world would be if a vaccine had not been discovered when it was.
The Monaghan man says the novel is a mix or fiction and non fiction and he uses his knowledge of history and science to build a world that is both surreal and dysfunctional.
The novel explores the dark side of humanity and questions what life would be like if the pandemic had never ended.
Donnachadh says a sequel to the Long Shadow could be in the pipeline, and it will be something that readers of the current offering will enjoy.
"I might have a sequel - when I wrote The Long Shadow I was in Ireland at the time and a lot of it was inspired by what was going on with NEPHT and so on.
"Now I'm living in Sweden and here they didn't have a lockdown so it's a very different experience here.
"So, if there is sequel, it will be based on the Nordic experience and how they reacted to Covid-19, in fact they didn't react at all to it.
