A Monaghan athlete has encouraged young people to “never give up” on their sporting dreams.
Donna Evans recently won her first ever world medal in the World Masters Championships which took place in Tampere, Finland.
Speaking to Northern Sound during a Civic Reception hosted by Monaghan County Council in honour of her achievements, Donna believes it’s important for young people to “enjoy” sport without feeling pressurised by parents or other people.
While the local athlete took home an incredible total of five medals from the event, she noted that is has taken 35 years of hard work and graft to get to this point.
She added that while there may be "more bad days than good," it’s important for young people to “keep at it."
