Monaghan actor and writer Matthew McMahon is currently appearing on TV screens right across the country in a new national advertisement for Rockshore.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Matthew revealed that he is “amazed” by the support he has received from locals since securing the national advertisement through a successful audition process.
Adding to his recent success, Matthew is also on a theatre tour with his play 'The Flowers in May' which is based on his own experience of being the parent of a child with autism.
The local talent said it was “important” for him to create a play, which gives people an insight into an area of parenting which isn’t usually discussed.
He added that the feedback he has received from other parents has been inspiring. "Particularly from schools we have received such a good reception," explained Matthew.
"Parenting with autism is not an area that is talked about that much, and this play goes into all the stigmatisms attached to that. I've even been amazed with the reception we have received from people who have no association with autism, it has changed the way they look at themselves and those who are different and they now know how react in a way that they never have before."
