Posters put up around Monaghan Town for Niamh Smyth's election campaign have been stolen. Niamh's elderly father and a friend put up the four 8 x 4 posters on the approach roads into Monaghan Town on Thursday evening but, by early Friday morning they were gone.
Deputy Smyth checked with Monaghan County Council and was told the signs were not causing an obstruction and were not removed by them. "We can only assume that someone mischievously took them" she told Northern Sound.
The election candidate has now replaced the stolen posters with new ones near the education campus, the Ballybay to Cootehill Road and others at the SEM and N54. This time she wants members of the public to "keep an eye" for her so that the new posters don't turn up somewhere they shouldn't be or litter lovely County Monaghan.
