The funding model of drug and alcohol services has been described as "fundamentally flawed" with local services likely to have to close the Minister responsible has been warned.

The CDA in Cavan has warned it needs an increase in funding in order to continue providing its services.

TD Brendan Smith told the Dáil last night that the funding provided has been static for more than eight years, with costs increasing but its funding not increasing to match.
