Neale Richmond, the Minister of State at the Department of Finance visited Cavan Town earlier this week.
Minister Richmond, who has special responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions, and Insurance, met with members of the staff and Board of Directors of Cavan Credit Union. He also met representatives from five credit unions in County Cavan and three from County Monaghan. The Minister held a roundtable discussion with the eight credit unions, Cavan, LINK, Virginia, Ballyconnell, Arva, Clones, Monaghan and Castleblayney, to discuss the current state of the credit union sector and the issues facing credit unions in the border area.
The roundtable discussion covered many aspects of credit union business and the future of credit unions, their role in the communities they serve and government support for credit unions.
