Nine towns and villages in Cavan and Monaghan are to receive over €244,000 as part of a major funding package delivered by Minister Heather Humphreys.
In Co Cavan, projects in Cootehill, Killeshandra, Kilnalack and Swanlinbar will share over €106,000 under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
While in Monaghan over €137,000 will be used to fund projects in Clones, Carrickmacross, Castleblaney, Ballybay and Monaghan Town.
The funding is part of a €2.3 million package nationwide which is designed to help towns and villages to adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Minister Heather Humphreys says "It is vitally important that we increase footfall in rural towns and villages by supporting them to adapt to this 'new normal' as a result of Covid-19.
This funding will benefit communities by assisting them to alter their streetscapes so that people can shop, work and socialise safely.
Minister Humphreys also added that she wanted to commend all those in the communities who actively engaged with Cavan County Council and Monaghan County Councils on their applications for funding."
