Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney has called for a de-escalation of tension in and around Gaza.
The Minister said he's deeply concerned about the current escalation of violence in the region and the impact of Israeli strikes on civilians.
He's also condemned the indiscriminate firing of rockets from Gaza, affecting civilians, and says he's particularly concerned about the impact on children.
Minister Coveney says Ireland is calling for everybody to act with restraint and reduce tensions.
Meanwhile, Israeli-Palestinian fighting is continuing for a second day in the territory's worst escalation of violence since a war last year.
Israel claims Islamic Jihad was planning an attack and it was forced to launch the 'pre-emptive' operation in Gaza.
A Palestinian militant group hit back with a barrage of rocket fire.
Palestinian officials say 10 people have been killed including a five year old girl during the fighting, while Israel's army estimates that its operation has killed 15 militants.
