The Minister for Communications is being called on to ensure all students in the region have access to adequate broadband for the coming year.
With uncertainty remaining as to how and when schools in Cavan and Monaghan will re-open some members of the CMETB have expressed concerns that not all students locally have equal access to the internet to facilitate learning from home.
They want to see the roll out of broadband to all areas in the region, and are calling for a meeting with Minister Eamon Ryan to highlight the need for students, especially those in more disadvantaged areas, to have the ability to engage with the class work.
Councillor Colm Carthy told Shannonside Northern Sound that there were also concerns some students were unable to engage with teachers during the closure of schools due to a lack of equipment at home and called on the Government to act quickly:
