The introduction of minimum pricing on alcohol could well drive the families of addicts to approach money lenders.
This is according to John Smith, volunteer with Cuan Mhuire in Ballybay, who told Northern Sound this week that despite the price increase, an addict will 'neglect' other aspects of their lives to ensure they can continue to buy alcohol.
This he added, has to potential to drive their husbands, wifes and partners 'into the arms of moneylenders'.
