Midlands Northwest MEP Maria Walsh has called for a Europe-wide Mental Health Strategy. According to the latest EU statistics on mental health, 27% of workers report work-related stress, depression or anxiety.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 19 years. And, 84m people in the EU or one person in every six suffer from mental ill-health.
Ms Walsh, meanwhile, is also proposing to make 2023 the European Year of Mental Health and is currently proposing solutions at EU level that include a right to disconnect; a better work-life balance; and new progressive directives.
