A Status Yellow - Ice warning for Ireland is due to be lifted later this morning. Met Eireann is warning hazardous conditions remain due to freezing temperatures including icy stretches on roads and paths.
Many parts of the country saw snow flurries overnight. Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says the cold spell will be with us until the end of the week. He continued; "This is more a cold blast from the North which will possibly last up until Friday, especially in Northern parts of the country. It's not anything like the Beast in the East and we won't see temperatures dropping as low as that. There is a risk of some heavy wintery falls in Northern areas especially on Thursday and Friday."
