Motorists should be wary of difficult driving conditions and flooding, as Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning.
It will remain in place for the entire country until seven o'clock this evening. In Donegal, a stand alone rain warning is valid from midday until midnight.
Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel says people should prepare for heavy showers. "Bands of heavy rain throughout the day are expected to push up across the country," he explained. "That rain will be heavy at times and it will lead to localised flooding in areas, so there is a risk of disruption on roads."
