An involuntary admission can only happen if a person is not willing to go into hospital and is suffering from either mental illness, a significant intellectual disability, or severe dementia.

There is no CAMHS out-of-hours service in Cavan/Monaghan which means that emergency departments are often the last resort for children and young people.
