Members of the Cavan Pétanque Club recently took part in a fun day which was featured on the BBC's popular "One Show" and with French heartthrob Fred Sirieix of First Dates fame participating. .
The Cavan Pétannque Club based in Belturbet Golf Club has being going from strength to strength since its formation during lockdowns.
Much like the French sport of boules, players aim to throw a steel ball or boule on to a gravel piste and attempt to dislodge the smaller ball known as the "jack". Dawn Kirk, from the Cavan Club took part in the fun event in which TV's cupid, Fred Sirieix , took home two medals.
Dawn lives in Belfast but travels to play in Cavan because the local club plays a tournament at least once a month.
She is also secretary of the Irish Pétanque Association. President of the national association, is also a Cavan member. Billy Gleadell and he said promotion of the sport continues.
