The Melbourne-based construction company owned by Cavan's Tony Brady is the latest name to be linked to the potential purchase of the Slieve Russell Hotel. The Ballyconnell hotel was put on the market in April on behalf of the liquidators of the Irish Bank Resolution Company.
According to the Sunday Times, The Brady Group has bid below the €35 million asking price. Tony Brady emigrated to Australia from Cavan as a bricklayer in 1973 and eventually set up his own company.
Brady, who is in his seventies, is originally from Redhills. His brother, Ollie Brady, was Cavan's first All-Star. A 2017 interview with the developer said the Brady Group had played a "key role in transforming" Melbourne.
