A meeting is to be held with Monaghan County Council's engineering team over what's been labelled the "crazy" roundabout in Monaghan Town.
Works to redesign the Margaret Skinnader roundabout were approved in May of this year.
However, at today's County Council meeting, Hugh McElvaney said the "crazy" roundabout will bring traffic to a standstill because it contains three pedestrian crossings.
One of these crossings will be a signalised crossing, while a zebra crossing will be used for the other two.
Councillor McElvaney also called for a traffic island on Park Street to be moved "50 metres up the road".
Works on the roundabout are due to be completed on the coming weeks.
Councillor David Maxwell told the meeting that the roundabout was "discussed in depth" at MD level and reminded members that it is "not only now that we are discussing this".
