Celebrations are underway as Co Meath's Tom Dolan finishes 7th place at St Nazaire, having covered a distance of 559 nautical miles.
Known as the 'Flying Irishman' Mr Dolan participated in the Solo Offshore Racing: La Solitaire du Figaro, world championships.
A clear play of strategy using the wind seen Mr Dolan, sailing Smurfit-Kappa-Kingspan, go from 17th place to 7th place in the closing days of the race.

La Solitaire du Figaro, which left the mouth of the Loire estuary just three weeks ago, is thought to be the Formula 1 of offshore racing.
Mr Dolan is happy to have finished in the top-10 of this intense three-week race where he has pushed himself to the limit and beyond.
