Barry McGuigan has paid tribute to Irish boxer John Cooney. The Galway boxer died a week after a fight in Belfast.
In paying tribute to the 28 year old, the Clones Cyclone said it was such tragedy to loose this fine young boxer. He said he was thinking of his fiancée, his parents and his family at this very sad time.
Mr Cooney had an operation for a bleed on the brain last week, after being stopped in the ninth round of his bout against Welshman Nathan Howells. Cooney's promotors MHD Promotions announced the news in a statement on social media on Saturday night, with a message of thanks from his family to all those who had sent messages of support.
