McCarren Meats Ltd in Cavan have been given the green light by the local authority for the construction of a new Loading Bay and Dispatch Extension to the front of the existing factory.
The plan will also see the construction of a new detached single storey security hut building to the rear of the existing factory shop along with the installation of a new 2.4m high security fence around the factory site.
McCarren Meats Ltd was also given the go-ahead for the relocation of the existing entrance gates and installation of new vehicle barriers and gates to the south of the existing factory which is located on the Farnham Road in Cavan Town.
The application relates to development which comprises an activity which holds an IPPC Licence. The traditional pig slaughtering and bacon curing business was given the permission by county planners with 11 conditions attached.
