Country music stars Margo O’Donnell and Declan Nerney took to busking in Castleblayney today to call for supports for the music industry.
The representative group of the entertainment industry this week called on the government to provide major funding to allow events which have been cancelled due to the pandemic take place.
EPIC launched its pre-Budget submission calling for €6 million in direct funding and reduced VAT rates on ticket sales.
The sector supports over 35,000 jobs and contributes €3.5 billion to the economy.
Today would have been Big Tom McBride’s 84th birthday and to mark the occasion and raise awareness of the situation facing musicians, Margo and Declan decided to busk alongside his statue.
