While the underground cave tours will not be available until the new year, Cllr McCaffrey says there is still a wide range of other facilities for members of the public to enjoy.

It has been revealed that the popular Marble Arch Caves, located on the Fermanagh/Cavan border will be closed temporarily from Monday, September 12th until early January of next year.

According to Fermanagh councillor, Chris McCaffrey, cave tours will not be available, due to the instalment of a new cave lighting system.

Despite this, Cllr McCaffrey who previously worked as a tour guide and supervisor at the local attraction believes the new system will only 'enhance' the overall visitor experience.

He added that the new measures will also increase visitor safety and 'protect' the natural environment of the caves:
